THE STORY
Gesya lupetnik gets a
knock
on her door one morning
from a strange man
Gesya is 85 years old living alone in a one bedroom apartment in the not too distant future.
Her husband passed away years ago so she has been alone a long time, isolated in her apartment without much contact from her family. Her main source of human contact is her grocery delivery driver, Donny, who comes to drop off food once a week.
One morning she gets a knock on the door from a strange man claiming to be a “Toilet Repairman” with an appointment from the apartment complex to fix her toilet.
He claims to be a

At the door is Lawbrence White, a “Toilet Repairman” sent over from the “The Toilet Company” and the apartment complex.
Despite not remembering that she made the appointment or had any issues with her bathroom, Gesya lets him in and eagerly chats him up, enjoying the unexpected company.

Pulling out a mess of short circuiting CPUs from inside the Toilet, Lawbrence tells her that this is a dangerous and severe emergency. He’s going to have to perform emergency repairs right now or else the Toilet could explode.

Gesya has a hobby of baking elaborate cakes and posting pictures of them onto Social media. It’s her only connection with the world, but she doesn’t really like like to eat the sweets and has no one to share them with now her family isn’t around.
Excited at her guests arrival and returning to to her maternal instincts, Gesya bakes Lawbrence a cake and makes him lunch as he works.
As Lawbrence works,

With Lawbrence working, Gesya tries to go about her day normally. This mainly consists of cleaning up and then flipping through social media where she watches her daughter - Mira - from afar. Clearly, they have a strained relationship as Gesya eagerly pours over her recent post about her son’s birthday - but doesn’t “like” it when prompted to by the app.
She wasn’t invited to the kid’s party. And they all seem so happy without her there.
Lawbrence takes a
break
when gesya offers to make him lunch and
eagerly chats him up
The two of them start to have a friendly chat as Lawrence eats. She asks him how long he has been doing this and he says his whole entire life. Ever since he was a little boy all he wanted to do was be a Toilet Repairman, but this is actually his first paid job in a long time because he just got out of jail.

and sneaking into old ladies’ apartments
Lawbrence says he just got out of prison for sneaking into old people’s houses and pretending to be a Toilet Repairman so he could steal their medication.
But he assures her, he would never do that again and she doesn’t have any good drugs in her cabinet anyway.
He finishes his sandwich quickly and heads back into the bathroom, telling her that the toilet ain’t gonna fix itself.
Lawbrence tells her the repairs are going to take
longer than he expected,
he may need to
stay late
and he heads back to work
He finishes his sandwich and heads back into the bathroom, telling her that he’s going to be working late into the night. Gesya asks him how long it will take and Lawbrence says he’s not really not sure. But, he reassures her he’s extremely confident that he will have it ready soon.
Late into the night,
lawbrence is still there,
banging
clanking
and yelling
at the toilet as if he’s fighting a tiger.
Gesya has now turned from being friendly and nice to completely annoyed and terrified of Lawbrence.
She constantly peaks through the cracks of the door as he’s working and tries to go about her night normally watching TV and flipping through social media, but has trouble focusing with the constant banging and clanking from the bathroom.
Throughout the whole night, Gesya can hear through the walls as Lawbrence battles the toilet hitting it with a hammer and yelling profanities at it.
She checks the clock, and it’s 11PM and he’s still there…
Gesya finally has had
enough
and knocks on the door and asks him to
leave
After trying to be polite, Gesya meekly knocks on the bathroom door and yells to Lawbrence inside that she would like him to leave. She tells him that it’s late and she wants to go to bed. Lawbrence refuses to come out, telling her that if he leaves the toilet alone it could explode at any moment.
Lawbrence won’t

says he can’t leave or the toilet will
explode
Lawbrence peaks his head out all sweaty and flustered and tells her that he can’t go because the Toilet could explode at any moment.
He assures her that he has everything under control and she should just go to sleep, he’ll let himself out as soon as he finishes fixing it.
Gesya argues with him but Lawbrence won’t budge, he goes back into the bathroom and keeps working.

She trudges back into her bedroom, defeated. She just stares at the walls listening to Lawbrence’s clanking and self-commentary on his difficulty fixing the problem, wanting to go to sleep.
Eventually her eyes can’t stay open any longer and she dozes off and falls asleep on her bed.
Gesya wakes up to hear

still there
working
When Gesya awakens in the morning, she can hear through the walls that Lawbrence is still there, working in the bathroom.
She wakes up, and lawbrence is
already there
taking some pipes
into the bathroom
She goes into the living room to find Lawbrence lugging some pipes into the bathroom, already in her apartment.
He says he left extremely late and just arrived back to finish up and let himself in. Not trusting him, Gesya flat out tells him to leave immediately.
Instead, he pulls out a crumpled piece of paper and tells her he has an order that SHE needs to evacuate the apartment IMMEDIATELY for her own safety.
But, Lawbrence assures her that he has everything under control and he’s not going to ask her to go. He brushes her off and nonchalantly heads back to work, at Gesya’s extreme frustration.

her day but can’t stop

Gesya tried to act normal with Lawbrence in the bathroom “working” but has trouble focusing on anything other than what he’s doing.
She constantly checks the door and when she doesn’t hear any noise for a minute, she inches in close and peeks her eye under floor to see what Lawbrence is doing.

When Gesya looks under the door, she can see Lawbrence is fast asleep on the floor looking like he was watching Netflix on a tablet. He looks like he has set up a sleeping area and has been living inside her bathroom.
Perturbed, she goes and
bakes a cake
filling the apartment with
sweet delicious smells
Gesya gets frustrated and starts going about making one of her decorative cakes. She cracks the eggs, whips up a mix and throws it into the oven, filling the whole apartment with the delicious aroma of baked goods.
Lawbrence immediately wakes
up at the smell and
spies
on gesya baking
Lawbrence re-emerges from when the pungent smell of cake permeates into the bathroom causing his stomach to growl loudly.
He openly asks her “what’s up with that cake, Gessy?” and if he can get a slice because he’s extremely hungry.
Gesya takes a picture of the cake for social media and tells him that he shouldn’t be eating cake every day because he’s overweight and then - to Lawbrence’s horror - TOSSES it into the trash can right in front of his eyes.
She heads back into her bedroom, telling Lawrence to get back to work telling him “The Toilet isn’t going to fix itself,” condescendingly.

Gesya comes back into the kitchen a few minutes later to discover that the cake in the trash can is gone - and not only that, there are boot-shaped icing-foot prints all across the floor leading directly to the bathroom.
Gesya bangs on the door and tries to confront Lawbrence about eating her cake but he says he doesn’t know what she’s talking about and refuses to come out.
Exasperated, Gesya loudly warns Lawbrence and says that she is now going to call the police. Not joking, she reads the phone number out loud and starts to dial it one by one. When she gets to the last digit - Lawbrence finally peaks his head out of the door and approaches her slowly.
Lawbrence casually walks over, right up to within inches of her face and slowly explains the futility of the situation if she is actually in danger of him.
He reminds her that he’s already right there in the apartment. Gesya is what, 90-100 pounds? If he really wanted bust her up, it would be easy and only take a second. Even if she did call the police, by the time they got there, he’d have time to do whatever he wanted and easily get away.
As he says this, he nonchalantly grabs the phone from her hand, hangs up the call, and walks back into the bathroom unworried.

Sitting and casually relaxing watching TV that night as Lawbrence continues working in the bathroom, Gesya is disturbed by a KNOCK at the door.
Before she can even react - Lawbrence emerges from the bathroom to answer it.
Gesya answers it to
find an attractive
woman
is at the door to
see lawbrence
Waiting outside is RHERHE - an attractive young black woman who Lawbrence eagerly lets inside, looking as if he’s trying to impress her. He welcomes her in as if he owns the place and also talks down to her in an extremely mean, threatening tone telling her “Bitch, you better have washed your pussy”

into the bathroom
As Gesya questions whats going on, Lawbrence oscillates between his overly polite tone with her and being completely downright nasty to Rherhe. When she asks him where they are and who’s apartment this is, he tells her to “Shut the fuck up” and “Get your pussy ready” as he nudges her into the bathroom.
When Rherhe notices Gesya just sitting there watching TV, she jealously asks:
“Who’s this Old Ho?”'
Lawbrence defensively screams at her to leave Gesya alone. Gesya protests “You can’t bring her in here!” to which Lawbrence tells her that the “Toilet work is hard” and he “needs a break.”
He pleads with her to give him a little privacy for the night and brings Rherhe into the bathroom - where we see he has set up a nice date night with two slices of smashed up cake.
Rherhe is very impressed by the bathroom set up and the cake, immediately tasting it and asking who made it. Lawbrence smiles big back to Gesya and shuts the door behind him.
Gesya sits in her beroom,
listening in as they
fuck

Gesya goes off to her room, furious at the situation she has found herself in. Sounds of BANGING, MOANING and FUCKING bleed loudly through the walls as she just sits there, trying to make sense of all this.
As she listens through the walls, a tiny lizard crawls through the ceiling and lands onto her bed, completely freaking her out.
Gesya decides to pick up the phone and
call
the police
Finally, feeling she has had enough, Gesya decides to actually call the police. She picks up the phone and dials the line, getting a hold of an impatient Dispatch Operator.
Gesya meekly describes the situation, telling them that a Toilet Repairman came to fix her toilet, never left and started living in her bathroom.
The Police Dispatch isn’t really believing this story at first , even chuckling when Gesya tells him that he’s on a date having sex with a girl in there right now. The Dispatcher asks for Gesya’s information and reminds her that this is the third crazy call they’ve gotten this year from that household and he doesn’t really want to send an Officer out.
Gesya pleads with him, begging for help, telling them that she just wants this man out of her home so she can sleep. When she happens to drop the detail that the man is black - that FINALLY grabs the Dispatcher’s attention and he agrees to send someone out.
The Police arrive
an hour later now when it’s quiet,
and gesya eagerly lets them in
The Cops arrive and Gesya eagerly lets them in. She describes the situation to them, telling the police that there is a man living inside of her bathroom and he won’t come out. The two Cops are extremely dismissive at first, not really believing a word that she says. They start looking around everywhere the apartment but the bathroom.
The Police open the
bathroom and
Talk
to Lawbrence
Lawbrence shuts the door behind him and quickly approaches the Cop, telling him that he is only there to fix the Toilet. Lawbrence stresses its an emergency situation, the toilet could blow up any moment and he actually has a written order allowing him to be here.
The Cop asks to see it and Lawbrence hands him a piece of paper, which they look over briefly and turn back to Gesya and tell her:
The Cop seems to buy Lawbrence’s credentials and just simply shrugs and tells his buddy that he’s there to just fix the toilet. They both chat for a minute, hand Lawbrence back his paper and nod to Lawbrence that he can go back into the bathroom to finish the job.
The Police explain to gesya that actually
lawbrence has
permission
to be there and she should
leave
The Cops go and talk to Gesya:
“Yeah, he has written permission to be here. Actually, you’re supposed to vacated the premises, m’am so you’re the one who’s supposed to leave. Not him.”
They quickly head on out, ignoring Gesya’s desperate pleas to help her. Because it’s so late and she’s so Old, they tell her they aren’t going to ask her to leave right now because she says she has nowhere to go. But, they tell her to leave immediately first thing in the morning as they walk out and drive off.
Gesya heads back to bed
and dozes off,
defeated
Gesya yells at Lawbrence through the door when the Cops go, telling him that she wishes he would leave right now.
Lawbrence replies that he’s not there and he doesn’t know what she’s talking about, encouraging her to go to bed.
Beyond Frustrated by this nonsense, Gesya goes back into the bedroom and begrudgingly goes to sleep.
The following morning,
gesya is awoken to a loud
scream
Gesya hops out of bed when she hears loud female screams of pain coming from inside the bathroom.
She approaches the door and Lawbrence and Rherhe burst out, and he’s holding her while she’s SCREAMING in horrendous pain at the top of her lungs.
Thinking she is injured, Gesya helps Lawbrence stabilize her and get out of the bathroom. As she helps her out, Gesya sees that Rherhe has now GOTTEN PREGNANT and is GOING INTO LABOR.

Gesya asks Lawbrence wha't’s going on and he points out the obvious - “She’s pregnant, Gessy!”.
Gesya is confused asking how that happened.
Lawbrence replies blithely “I stuck my penis her Vagina, Gessy! What do you think happened?”
As they argue, Rherhe goes into full on labor - a baby is coming out right now.
Gesya and Lawbrence
calm her down and try to
deliver a baby
right in the living room
Not having enough time to get Rherhe to a Hospital, Gesya and Lawbrence go into being her emergency mid-wife and start delivering the baby.
Gesya hops over to her face and talks to her calmly, massaging her forehead and keeping her focused as Lawbrence pulls out the child from between her legs.
The pain is all too much for Rherhe, and she immediately passes out as soon as the child leaves her body.
Gesya looks back over
at lawbrence and there is
no baby
Gesya looks back over at Lawbrence expecting to see him holding a tiny newborn baby. But, instead, he proudly extracts a large Egg from Rhamone’s womb. The Egg is massive, about three and half feet high with a thick hard shell.
He holds it up and looks at it like a proud father, wiping off the embryonic fluid and examining the shell.
Gesya confusingly asks “What is that?”
Lawbrence tells her
“that’s our
egg
gessy…”
To Which Lawbrence replies, “That’s our Egg, Gessy.”
Lawbrence looks over the Egg proudly, holding it up and examining it for a beat.
Lawbrence takes
the egg
into the bathroom where
he reveals he has building it a
nest
Lawbrence shows Gesya the Egg and leads her into the bathroom, where he reveals he wasn’t fixing her toilet at all. Instead, he was building a massive nest in the bathtub to keep the Egg warm after it was born. The nest is entirely composed of twigs and tree branches and dead grass, filling up half the room,
He takes the Egg and places it into the center of the nest, takes out a cigar and lights it in celebration, smiling big.
He looks back remembers that Rherhe is passed out on the floor, and he tells Gesya that he needs to take her to the hospital immediately. While he’s gone, he asks Gesya if she can watch the Egg.

Gesya is hesitant at first but Lawbrence assures her that it will be easy to take care of the Egg. All she has to do it keep it warm.
She asks how he expects her to do that, to which Lawbrence tells Gesya she just needs to sit on it to keep it warm.
Seeing Rherhe struggling, though, he rushes to get her out of there and throws her over his shoulder and carries her out. As he walks out, he confidently gives a big thumbs up to Gesya and tells her she’s got this.

and tries
to keep it
warm in the nest
All alone with the Egg, Gesya awkwardly tries to sit on it for a beat.
It’s not really possible, so she starts searching around the bathroom for other ways to keep it warm. She finds a hair dryer under the sink and turns it on, blowing some hot air onto the shell.
Gesya gets distracted
scrolling through her daughter’s social media And calls
Mira
to aplogize
Looking at the Egg and flipping through Social Media, Gesya sees her daughter posting about celebrating her son’s birthday. She gets swarmed with loads of messages from friends - but not Gesya. She hesitates, feeling her absence and reluctantly likes post and sends her a heartfelt “Happy Birthday” message. Gesya starts looking through her photos and starting to tear up thinking about the past and their clearly frayed relationship.
She picks up the phone and CALLS Mira, letting it ring before going to her voicemail. Gesya leaves a long, rambling message to Mira, trying to tell her that she loves her and is sorry and that she just wishes they would speak again.
While Gesya gets distracted on the phone, she leaves the hair dryers unattended and they spark a small flame in the nest that quickly grows.
The Nest catches

Gesya panics and quickly tries to bat the flames out with a towel but it only fans them further - surrounding the Egg.
She reaches in and tries to grab it from the nest before the flames reach it, but it’s far too heavy for her to lift. The flames inch closer about to burn up the Egg, so she shoves it off the tub, tumbling onto the floor.
Nearly getting burned herself, Gesya steps out of the tub and TURNS THE WATER ON, instantly putting the flames out.
Gesya catches her breath, soaked and he clothes singed, the entire nest is black and was destroyed in an instant. The Egg seems to be OK, Gesya kneels down and examines it, finding a HUGE CRACK along the side. Gesya wraps it around a towel and drags it out into the living room.

in blankets and puts
it on her couch
Gesya puts the Egg in her living room and manages to drag it up onto her couch. She covers it in blankets, wrapping it up in a make-shift nest.
She can’t help but try to care for the thing, rubbing her hands on it gently and whispering softly at the Egg that she’s sorry she dropped it.
Gesya then lays next to the Egg, warming it up with her body heat. She drifts off and falls asleep coddling the Egg like a baby.
Lawbrence returns and sees
the crack
in the egg
Lawbrence returns to the Apartment, super excited to see his Egg. He stopped and went out foraging for seeds on his way back, and he walks in proudly presenting what will be it’s food as soon as it hatches.
But, when he approaches the center of the room he is shocked to see the Egg not in the bathroom. He notices Gesya sleeping beside it and the burnt up tub and then - to his horror - the crack in the Egg.
Lawbrence drops the seeds on the floor, waking Gesya up as he yells in anger.
Gesya awakens and tries to explain to him what happened - but Lawrbence doesn’t want to hear it. He complains to her how about how hard it was for him to gather all those sticks all Winter and that his son is gonna’ be “all messed up now.”. Nope, he doesn’t want nothing to do with no broke ass egg anymore.
Lawbrence says he doesn’t want
the egg anymore but Gesya
pleads with him
to stay and help her
take care of it
Lawrbence tries to walk out, but Gesya pleads with him to stay and help her take care of the Egg. She feels for it now, telling him that he can’t just let it die.
Gesya is confused as to what to do with it, though. She wants to care for it and keep it warm, but that’s all she really knows. What happens when it hatches?
Lawbrence tells her that he brought the seeds so that they could feed it, because as soon as it hatches, it will be hungry.
She asks him “What’s inside of the Egg?” Lawbrence tells her “Our son.”
Well, she insists, you can’t abandon your son. They’ve got to care for him.
Lawbrence reluctantly agrees, asking her to help prepare the seeds so the Egg has something to eat. But, he insists, you really need to hurry, because when it hatches “if he' doesn’t have something to eat, he’ll probably eat you.”
Gesya rushes to
bake a cake
with the seeds for the egg,
she notices lawbrence is putting
nails
in a baseball bat
As Gesya does her best to hustle and get the cake done, she looks over to see Lawbrence sticking nails into a baseball bat. She asks him what he’s doing, and he tells her that it’s for his own protection.
When The Egg hatches, he says, they’ll have one chance to feed him. His Son may or may not attack and try to eat them both, so if he does, he’ll have to take him out.

starts to push up against the shell
As Gesya does her best to hustle and get the cake done, she looks over to see Lawbrence sticking nails into a baseball bat. She asks him what he’s doing, and he tells her that it’s for his own protection.
When The Egg hatches, he says, they’ll have one chance to feed him. Their Son may or may not attack and try to eat them both, so if he does, he’ll have to take him out.
Gesya asks what she wants her to do when it hatches, and Lawbrence reaches into his bag and pulls out a couple of books and hands them to Gesya.
“Teach him. I want him to grow up super smart like you.”
Gesya looks down and it is a bunch of school textbooks, but the subjects are all labelled “The History of Gesya Lupetnick”, “Gesyaology”, “Geysanomics” and are all about her.
Gesya is confused, trying to make sense of this, as she’s looking at the books, Lawbrence notices the Egg is starting to push up against the shell! It’s hatching!
A large beak
breaks
through the shell…
Lawbrence grabs the bat and lurches into position, ready to smash whatever emerges from the Egg. He urges Gesya to get the cake ready and take cover and hide, but she rushes and trips over herself trying to get the hot cake out of the oven.
She nearly burns herself on the over, with Lawbrence yelling at her to hurry and get him the cake. As they yell at each other, HUGE BEAK smashes through the top of the Egg and starts to pick apart the outer shell.

responding to her mother’s call earlier
While the egg is hatching, we cut outside of the apartment to see that Mira is approaching the front door, responding to her Mom’s voicemail from earlier. She approaches the door and hears yelling coming from inside, and turns the door knob to see that is unlocked. Mira lets herself inside and cautiously enters the apartment.
The Egg breaks apart,
revealing
the bird
Gesya notices her daughter, Mira, standing in the back of the room in shock at the scene and she yells at her to '“get back” and “leave!”
The shell of the Egg falls apart, revealing a large Bird-like creature covered in bloody placenta. It slowly stands up.
All three watch, jaws to the floor, as the Creature emerges before them, standing up slowly to reveal the body of a very tall, slender perfectly toned naked woman. She is still covered in blood and bits of shell, but the head is that of a Large, massive Secretary Bird, with a long, sharp protruding beak. She stands tall confidently before them, chest protruding and SQUAWKS…
the bird immediately tries to

and eat them all,
just like lawbrence said it would
Gesya is mesmerized by this creature, staring longingly into it’s eyes as The Bird just staggers around the room confused for a beat SQUAWKING at them.
Lawbrence yells back to Gesya “What’s up with them cakes, Gessy?”
Gesya stumbles to try to grab the cakes but the hot pan burns her hand and she can’t get it over to him in time.
The Bird starts to PECK around aimlessly, tearing up the couch and before the sounds of Gesya and Lawbrence bickering with each other draws her attention towards them.
The Bird SWIPES over at Mira, causing her to lunge away from it.
Confused as to what she just walked into - Mira yells over to Gesya, “Mom, what’s going on!”
Lawbrence steps in with the bat to smash the Bird in the head, but Gesya intervenes and pleas with him not to kill the thing telling him “No, you can’t!”

The Bird keeps approaching Mira, walking slowly her way.
She pleads with Gesya, “Mom, tell this thing to stop!”
Gesya tells her calmly it’s going to be Okay and to just not be afraid.
The Bird corners Marine in the room, towering over her for a beat and just surveying over her body….

head
The Bird quickly swoops in LOPPING OFF MIRA’S HEAD with her beak!
She falls to the ground, dead in an instant. Gesya is mortified and frozen, unable to move after seeing her daughter just beheaded in front of her. The Bird turns back around and draws its attention to Gesya, SQWAKING right in her face.
Lawbrence steps in and SMASHES the BIRD in the back with the bat. The Bird SCREAMS and turns back toward him.

the bird
with the baseball bat
Lawbrence tries to fight off the Bird and starts jousting with it, he swings over at the Bird but it easily pecks away his attempts. The Bird PECKS back at Lawbrence’s shoulder, slicing him good and disarming him causing him to drop the bat.
Gesya is lost in a daze as the two of them fight, she lays down on the floor next to Marine, sobbing and apologizing. She keeps begging her for forgiveness, telling Marine “She didn’t know that was going to happen…”
Lawbrence takes another blow from The Bird’s beak to his side and YELLS in pain. Enraged at the thing, he turns to his fists now and dives at it like a boxer - throwing a few hard punches at The Bird’s head and tackling it to the floor and sending them both into the Bathroom.
He calls out to Gesya - stirring her from her gaze - and she finally takes note of the current situation. She sees the Bird staggering to stand up in the bathroom as Lawbrence crawls away from it, bleeding.
They manage to
trap the bird
in the bathroom and shut the door on it
Quickly, Gesya rushes over and SLAMS the bathroom door just as Lawrbence manages to get out and the Bird gets back up. The two of them struggle to keep the door shut, but with both of them working together they manage to twist the lock - keeping The Bird out. The Bird scratches and squawks at the door trying as best it can to get out but it can’t - it’s stuck in there… for now.
WIth the Bird stuck in the bathroom, lawbrence tries to
sneak out
and leave
Gesya turns back around and sees Lawbrence trying to sneak out the front door. She asks him where he’s going and he tells her that he is going back to jail, he is done trying to make it in the real world. Uh uh, no way, you got giant bird women out there attacking you left and right, old ladies accusing you of stealing everything, he concludes life was better in Jail and he’d rather go back.
Gesya tells Lawbrence
not to Go
and that she’s going
into the bathroom
to feed the Bird
the cake she baked
Gesya pleads with him and tells him that he can’t just leave their child there, she’s hungry. No matter what she’s going to try to care for that Bird. Lawbrence isn’t having it and he grabs his stuff, and heads out to leave. As he goes, he sees that Gesya is getting the cake ready and going over to the bathroom door as if she’s going to enter. Lawbrence can’t help himself from stepping in and tells her that’s suicide, she should let him do it. He picks up the bat and takes the cake, reluctantly heading into the bathroom to feed the Bird.
Not wanting gesya to go in alone,
Lawbrence enters the bathroom

to feed the bird
Lawbrence cautiously enters the bathroom, shaking with fear as he steps inside. The Bird is sitting in a corner, nibbling at the handle on one of the cabinets. The Bird barely takes note of him and keeps on doing what it’s doing, Lawbrence slowly steps closer and holds out the cake. It’s almost as if The Bird can sense his fear and she immediately SQUAWKS loudly back at him, and gets up - startling Lawbrence and causing him to RUN out of the room. He exits, panting out of breath and slams the door behind him, shaking his head to Gesya not to go in there.

walks inside,
giving it a try
Lawbrence is too out of breath to stop Gesya from grabbing the cake and walking inside the bathroom herself upon seeing that he couldn’t do it. He yells at her not to go in and she doesn’t even hesitate and steps right in. Lawbrence starts talking to himself that she is going to die and that he should just leave but he can’t bring himself to do it, he just patiently watches the shut door and listens. The Bird is now slightly perturbed and is SQUAWKING at things randomly in the bathroom, walking in circles aimlessly. Gesya calmly and without fear approaches The Bird with the cake. She holds her hand out and talks softly to it - to which The Bird responds by SQUAWKING right back in her face.
Lawbrence listens from the outside, sweating profusely, waiting for the noise of the thing attacking Gesya to come.
Gesya steps in closer and presents The Bird with the cake she baked with all those seeds Lawbrence brought and The Bird pecks at them randomly, testing it out - splashing food all over Gesya’s face in the process. She doesn’t budge, and just holds it out as The Bird starts to dig in and devour the cake. While The Bird eats, Gesya takes her other hand and rubs its head, caressing the area right between it’s eyes and talking softly in it’s ear.
Gesya emerges from the bathroom

some clothes

Gesya emerges from the bathroom tells Lawbrence to come with her into the bedroom, where the two of them go and pick out a dress for The Bird. Lawbrence tells Gesya that he’s hungry and asks her if she’s going to bake him another cake. She says that she can’t take care of The Bird and bake a cake for him, he’s going to have to help her take care of the Bird. As they talk, The Bird breaks through the bathroom and meanders out of the room, looking for Gesya. She comes over with Lawbrence and the two of them try their best to get the dress on top of the Bird and over her body.

Lawbrence gives gesya some textbooks and
asks her to
teach

Lawbrence hands her the textbooks he brought earlier on “GESYANOIMICS” and “GESYAOLOGY” and says the she should teach him because he’s not really qualified on those subjects. Geysa doesn’t understand, and Lawbrence opens them up and explains that he wants her to “Teach” the Bird.
Gesya opens up the books - and they are a textbook written about her life. Everything from her beliefs, economics, and even history.
Gesya stops when she flips through the book labelled “History of Gesya” and starts looking through it. It is a chapter by chapter historical breakdown of Gesya’s life as if presented as a Middle School textbook.

We cut to a few minutes later as Gesya stands in front of a White Board reading from one of the textbooks teaching to The Bird and Lawbrence. She gets really frustrated as Lawbrence immediately raises his hand to ask a question. Gesya calls on him and he asks “When’s lunch?” to which Gesya tells him “after you finish the first lesson”. She tries to proceed with the lesson but is constantly interrupted by Lawbrence trying to ask questions and the Birds shorts attention span - causing her to snap at it and toss a cookie over as a reward. Lawbrence immediately raises his hand again in response and asks “What about me? How come I don’t get no cookies?” The two of them bicker and she finally hands Lawbrence the box of cookies and starts diving into the book. She opens it up, and tells the class “alright and todays lesson will be on The History of Gesya”…. she turns to the next page, and is stunned to see a picture of her self as a little girl.
The book is a
textbook of gesya’s life,
beginning with her childhood
and going into adulthood
Gesya starts to teach from the textbook - amazed at the pictures dating back to when she was a young girl. She talks about how she grew up as she looks at photos of her parents, her family and herself from throughout her youth. Gesya flips ahead to her adult years and the passage where she met her husband, being immediately filled with nostalgia and joy at the pictures of the two of them. The Bird has trouble focusing so Lawbrence steps in, seeing that Gesya is touched by this, and chucks it some cookies so can Gesya read on.
She flips forward to the chapter on her giving birth to Mira, and when she looks over the pictures of the two of them when she was young and sees Mira’s lifeless body on the floor she is brought to tears and puts the books down, unable to control herself from crying.
Lawbrence tries to console gesya
and tells her that it’s okay,

anyway
Lawbrence does his best to comfort Gesya but his gestures misfire completely when he tells her that she’s better off without no headless daughter in her life anyway. Gesya reminisces how she messed up their relationship and could never take care of Mira, she literally led her right to her death. She says she can’t take care of that Bird, look what a terrible job she did with her daughter, it’s not right to let her teach it. Lawbrence encourages her that she will do a great job and that she should get back up and finish teaching the Bird.
Finally, exasperated, he asks Gesya if it would help, “If I looked like this?”
Gesya looks up and Lawbrence and Mira have mysteriously swapped places somehow. Lawbrence is now laying on the Floor - dead - and Mira kneels before Gesya. Gesya is confused and shocked, and starts screaming in Mira’s face that she’s not real and that none of this is real.
Lawbrence kneels down and
turns into Mira she tells gesya
it’s okay
and asks her to finish the lesson
Gesya recoils at the sight of Mira but she grabs her Mom and shakes her, telling her no that this is all real and everything is OK. She tells Gesya that she forgives her and that she is doing a great job taking care of The Bird and there is nobody better qualified than her to take care of it. Mira hands Gesya the textbook and asks her to keep going with the lesson.
Gesya opens it up to the chapter “GESYA LIVES ALONE”, and she reads aloud about how her husband passed away and Gesya was forced to live alone by herself for many years. During that time her mind start to go and she drifted off into madness.

“Gesya’s death”
The next chapter is labelled “Gesya’s Death” and Gesya starts to read aloud from the passage. Gesya reads aloud how “Gesya was surrounded by everyone she ever knew and loved as they all came to say Goodbye” and then looks up to see the room is now populated with people she loves.

Gesya sees flips back to the beginning the textbook, to when she was a little kid. As she reads about herself, her parents appear in the room to nod and wave to Gesya.
Gesya reads aloud about how her parents loved her very much and how they sacrificed for years to be able to have her after multiple miscarriages. Gesya grew up poor, but her parents were two decent people who did their best, her childhood was shielded from any real difficulties.

When she reads about herself, a version of Gesya as a child appears blissfully unaware of the challenges she will face in adulthood. She is playing with some toys in the middle of the room and the two of them wave to each other sharing a moment for a beat.

Gesya skips ahead a few pages and lands on herself in her early 20’s, just becoming an adult. She reads to The Bird how she was her most unhappy then during that period of her life, and goes up to herself whispers “It’s going to be OK.”

As she says that a handsome man steps over and joins her younger self.
Gesya immediately recognizes him, “Dan?” She looks down and reads the chapter aloud. “Gesya’s First True Love”.

Gesya reads how the two of them shared years of their lives together. For a time, they couldn’t have been deeper in love with each other. In the end, money tore them apart.
As Gesya reads this, she watches as her younger self refuses a kiss from Dan and unclenches his hand and walks away from him.

Dan and Gesya make eye contact with each other, and she gives him a hug to console him back on herself leaving him. He turns his back on her, leaving the room following after the younger version of herself.

Gesya then sees her husband Adam emerge from the crowd and he waves to her trying to get her attention.
They share
one final
kiss
Gesya starts to read the chapter about Adam, and she is unable to get far into the chapter without putting the book aside when she the two of them make eye contact and she embraces him with one final kiss.
The Bird
picks Gesya up and

When Gesya picks the book back up again, she has lost her place and it has flipped forward again to the last chapter “Gesya’s Death.” The Bird picks Gesya up and carries her towards the bed as she starts to read from it again.

While The Bird carries Gesya to bed, all of the people in the room gather around and watch and wave goodbye to Gesya.
LAWBRENCE
REAPPEARS
AND emerges
from the crowd
Lawbrence reemerges from the crowd and comes out to wave to Gesya. He and Mira follow the Bird as she walks over to the Bed and places Gesya under the covers.

in to tuck her under the covers
The Room is now crowded with people all gathering around as The Bird places Gesya underneath the covers and Lawbrence tucks her in. He tears up a bit as gets emotional sitting on the side of the bed and giving her a pound.
“It’s been real, Misses Gessy.”
Gesya looks up and tells Lawbrence, “I don’t understand what’s going on”
Lawbrence leans in and whispers into her ear “Nobody does” and steps back joining the crowd.
GESYA PUTS THE BOOK DOWN AND
CLOSES
HER EYES
Gesya looks around the room at all the various faces watching her and she begins to feel sleepy, with her eyes getting heavy. She flips the pages to the end of the book and shuts it and puts it down, takes a big sigh and closes her eyes.
WHEN SHE OPENS HER EYES AGAIN
everyone is gone AND
she lays in the bed all
alone
When Gesya opens her eyes, everyone is gone. The room is eerily empty. All we can hear is the sound of a clock ticking somewhere off in the apartment. Gesya doesn’t move as the life evaporates from her body and the room is finally left in silence.

We hold on the arid room for a lengthy beat. Gesya is completely motionless, silent and still. The look on her face is serene, she died peacefully and calmly. The Camera fades slowly to black…
